“Lovely cosy cottage in perfect location for beach which is literally a few minutes walk from the front gate across the field. If you are looking for a character filled stay then this is on the list. Clean, and everything you need for a few days or longer. Also a good location for visiting other sights in Norfolk and the broads. Best if both worlds with beach so handy. Ali and Julie perfect hosts, extremely helpful”

“Beautiful little cottage with amazingly each beach access. We had everything that we needed for a lovely stay.”
“Stunning place! absolutely perfectly located to access the amazing beach but avoid the crowds which come in on busy days. In easy driving distance from Horsey gap beach to see the seals and to any of the nearby boat hire places for a trip along the broads. Very good farm shop nearby stocks fresh produce.”
“Very well equipped stocked cottage – Ali has provided all the necessities for cooking, entertainment and comfortable living.”
“We would suggest planning your meals / excursions in advance as the better places nearby get full during season time (maybe a function of the staycation).”

“Great little house with an amazing beach nearby, perfect for walks with the dogs. I’m roughly an hour and a half away and I’ve visited Norfolk beaches all my life, I can safely say, even in the rain this one is my favourite. Thanks for hosting us, the pooches had an amazing time ”

“Amazing location looking onto fields, only a short walk to the beach across these fields and a short drive to the broads. The place was clean and cosy”
“What a beautiful little cottage in a perfect location for the beach & lots of walks. The cottage was so clean & well equipped with lots of information about the local area, especially helpful for dog owners. The garden is south facing & enclosed so a lovely sun trap. The cottage has an inglenook fireplace with log burner for cosy nights in. We enjoyed long walks on the beach everyday with our dog. We visited nearby places, spotting seals frolicking in the sea at Horsey Beach, even spotted one in the sea at the local beach which was a bonus. It’s a little gem of a place, ideal to visit in summer or winter. We’ll definitely be back.”
“fantastic little cottage with a lovely sunny garden and a short walk to the beach…or run it like we did!”
“The cottage was beautiful, clean and well equipped and beds lovely and comfy, we will be back”
“Nice little cottage in a peaceful, tranquil location. Well equipped kitchen which is needed as there is nowhere good to eat locally. Ideal cosy winter retreat because of lovely inglenook fireplace.”

“Great little place to stay! Beautiful sandy beaches are walking distance. Our dog was exhausted! Saw 100’s of seals on Horsey beach! Had a brilliant meal at The Ingham Swan as recommended by the owner. All round great break away…Enjoy!”

“This was our fourth stay at Ali’s cottage and it won’t be the last. The perfect balance of a cosy cottage, a great location and fully approved and loved by our dog. Thanks to the pandemic it had been over a year since our last visit, but his tail wagging excitement as he realised where we were was palpable.”

“This is our favourite cottage and we love staying here.”

“A cute cosy cottage only a short walk to lovely sandy beaches and dunes.”

“Exactly as described – a perfect cosy cottage & a wonderful place. Beach was fantastic for our dog – so many dogs in Sea Palling and lots of lovely walks.
Just a perfect time.”

“Beautiful cottage, in a lovely position.”

“We spent four nights here , the house is very sweet and the host’s offer of bread, milk , eggs and crisps on arrival was a lovely touch.
Really comfy beds and nice bed linens . Kitchen is well equipped also. Recommended.”

“Ali’s cottage is very cosy with little extras like bred milk and eggs , it’s very well situated for lovely costal walks and lots of other places to visit the only one negative for us was that the bathroom is situated downstairs.”

August 2020

“A wonderful cosy cottage exactly as described. Location great for beach, walking and cycling. Ali is super fast with responses and Julie on hand to assist locally. Found some super places to eat within 10 minutes drive. We will be returning!”

“Great location.”

“Nice little cottage nestled down a little lane. V short walk to the beach and local shop. Coastal path easy to get to and we walked to horsey gap where there is a nice little tea room with good food and a chance of seeing seals on the beach. The house has nice little extras with bread eggs and milk supplied on arrival and the beds are very comfortable!!!”

“A lovely cottage with a quiet path to the beach (great location – it’s a very quick stroll). Comfy beds and sofas to relax on! If you can go – swimming with the seals near Horsey was amazing.”

July 2020

“A cosy, comfortable space which would be equally satisfying in all seasons. The garden is a super private space and the host’s attention to detail was very much appreciated. We would recommend and would certainly return.”

“We really enjoyed the ability to walk to the beach, spent many evenings going to Sea Palling. Very peaceful area compared to some of the busier beaches. Great farm shop near by as well so no need to go far a field for supplies. We saw seals in the sea most days as well!”

“The cottage itself was great. I was thankful we had a car because although the property is a ten minute walk to the beach, there are much nicer towns and beaches. Our favorite was seeing seals and the sunset at Winterton-on-Sea. We also liked visiting wroxham. Would of been challenging without a car. Also, bring your own seasonings and oil if you’re planning on cooking! Was lovely that we were greeted with crisps and eggs and bread. Our pooch loved the cottage as well. Thanks so much!”

“Cozy cottage for an overnight stay. Had everything we needed and had a good night’s sleep.”

December 2019

“Our second new year’s eve in a row at Ali’s cottage and we love it just as much if not even more than last time. Cosy, amazingly located for long walks on the beach with our dogs and little touches like the cake and eggs upon arrival make it perfect for us. Thank you!”

“Very clean and well appointed. Everything we needed was provided – even a fully decorated Christmas tree for our festive holiday. Super dog friendly. Great location just a short walk from the beautiful beach, but also very peaceful and private.”

“We had a great time – the cottage is really lovely and there were plenty of time for beach walks given the excellent location. Sea Palling ‘resort’ itself if not our sort of place but this is still a great location for exploring the local area and is so near to Horsey Gap. We were lucky to visit the area during seal pup season. What a treat. We also had a couple of fabulous meals in the area and some great weather so, all in all, we felt really blessed.”

“Lovely place to stay with great access to the beach!!”

“We had a lovely stay in Ali’s cottage. The cottage was very cosy, and we were completely relaxed within an hour of being there. The spot is very quiet and totally peaceful, with the beach a 5 minute walk away. The cottage has cosy rooms, a fantastic fireplace to lounge in front of, and everything you need- including for the dog!
Would definitely like to stay again. Thank you!”

“Our stay in the cottage was so good! Would definitely come back, especially in the summer! The place was spotless, so cosy, so close to the beach and is a real gem!”

“Lovely cosy place with a great location”

“Beautiful little house, very cosy and welcoming. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Fully recommend!”

“The cottage is really well maintained, lovely and warm, and has just about everything you could possibly need. The bed was very comfortable, as was the sofa, making it a very relaxing place and ideal for a couple. The log burner is great, and with kindling and logs ready and waiting for you. The welcome pack of bread, eggs, jam and dog treats was also a lovely touch. The kitchen is really well equipped, and includes a dishwasher, washing machine and plenty of crockery, cuttlery, pans etc. Good wifi connection and freeview TV in the lounge. The garden is fully enclosed so perfectly safe for our 2 dogs to get some fresh air when they needed it too. And as for location, just ideal if you want to be somewhere quiet, but close to the beach. Parking is right outside too. Really cant think of anything it was missing. A real gem of a find and definitely worth a visit.”

“Amazing little cottage, extremely cosy and a lovely place to stay if you want to escape it all!”

September 2019

“Excellent location for dogs with a huge field behind the property leading straight onto the beach.”

“The house was cosy and suited us perfectly! It was really clean and in a great location for exploring Sea Palling and the surrounding areas. The welcome pack was a thoughtful touch and my puppy loved the biscuits! The bed was comfy and the underfloor heating was very much appreciated when it started to get stormy outside. A great weekend away (despite the weather)!”

“A lovely cosy cottage in a quiet location within walking distance of a beautiful sandy beach. The under floor heating and log burner make it especially welcoming. Highly recommended!”

“A lovely homely retreat in a great location.”

“What a location! So remote and quiet and the sea was so blue! Cant wait to go back and explore more, loved the welcome basket and all the little thoughtful gifts, couldn’t have asked for more.”

August 2019

“Lovely little place really close to the sea , great host and fabulous welcome basket of goodies!”

“A fantastic place to stay, home from home. We loved the fact we were so close to a beautiful sandy beach , that was not overcrowded and of which dogs were allowed.
Ali provided a vast amount of local leaflets which was great as well as a very informative welcome pack.
We will defiantly be returning”

“Lovely cosey cottage, in a quiet secluded area, 10 minute walk from beautiful beach. Spotlessly clean.”

“Ali place is a super place to stay, the cottage is beautiful and has every thing that you need for a great stay, there is nothing that Ali hasn’t thought of. The garden is a right sun trap too and the cottage is situated in a great area right near the beautiful beaches and lovely walks with your dog. You won’t be disappointed. Lovely weekend .Sam George and Archie (the dog).”

“Beautiful cottage, fab location. Parking was useful but space only just fit our 4×4. Local area info very dog-owner orientated, so have a (Hidden by Airbnb) for places to eat, we recommend Ingham Swan”

July 2019

“Ali’s cottage is perfect. Great location. Fab welcome pack. Can’t fault it. Excellent communication. We will definitively return.”

“Wonderfully clean with real attention to detail such as the ‘welcome pack, and dog facilities’. Very homely feel as well. Although there are wonderful places to walk the dog, a car is beneficial to be able to explore the beautiful surrounding area and be able to have a better range of places to eat.”

“Midthatch is a delightful old cottage. Beautifully appointed and perfect for some downtime. Very dog friendly”

June 2019

“Ali’s place was amazing. A cosy little cottage with comfy furniture and a well kitted out kitchen. The location was great with a beautiful ten minute walk to the beach across a corn field and into the dunes. The little bar at Sea Palling was a great place to have a drink after a stroll on the beach, which are dog absolutely loved. Oh and the amazing gift pack which was left for us when we arrived was really thoughtful. Thanks Ali!”

“Lovely cottage in a stunning location by a vast sandy and empty beach – much to our and our dog’s delight! Great local tips and recommendations and cottage itself very pretty with enclosed sun trap garden – great for our wannabe escape artist!”

April 2019

“The perfect hideaway .. we loved the walk through the field to the beach as it was a beautiful combination of sea and country. Beautiful beaches ..very cute cottage with character. We had a wonderful time. Dog’s heaven. Thank you”

“We had a wonderful stay at Ali’s place. The location is divine and Sea Palling is a gorgeous place to be. The cottage was lovely and full of thoughtful and tasty touches, including a very nice gift basket. And we saw seals! (On the beach, not at the cottage.)

My only disappointment, and the reason this scores 4 and not 5, is that you have to walk through the first bedroom to reach the master. Not the best for privacy, and I do feel that this should be including on the listing.”

March 2019

“Lovely place to stay. So close to the beach and amazing with our dog. Ali was quick to respond to us and left us a lovely welcome package full of goodies and for the dog! Thank you. We had a fantastic time!”

“Wonderful weekend stay in Sea Palling – cosy cottage with amazing fireplace, comfy bed, everything you need in the kitchen, and a thoughtful welcome pack. Beautiful beach is a short walk away. if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you!”

“Very cosy cottage, a short walk from stunning beaches and a short drive for seal viewing.”

“I don’t want to tell you how perfect this place is because it will be booked up forever and we won’t get to go back! It is such a gorgeous place, everything thought of . So beautiful and walks on the beaches round the corner. Such a special place, nothing to complain about. Can’t recommend it more. Thank you!!”

January 2019

“Lovely cosy cottage near the sea perfect for a weekend . Ali is very helpful and the local tips were really useful. It is also a great location to discover the area.”

“Ali has thoughtfully provided an extremely well organised Airbnb. An immaculately clean, cosy cottage provides all that one needs for a coastal retreat, including underfloor heating, an efficient modern shower, delightful welcome hamper (with local dairy produce, cake etc)and wonderful wood burning stove .
Local info; re pubs, cafes and walks also provided with delightful little touches such as blue Denby china and quality kitchen utensils were appreciated. Fresh linen sheets and a comfortable bed contributed to an overall feeling of homeliness and well-being. The location is exactly as described, seclude but not isolated. There is a vast sandy beach just a few minutes walk across the field, the icing on the cake!”

December 2018

“Cosy, comfortable, quiet and cute. We loved our three nights here so much; from the moment we drove up the quiet street and parked outside, to walking through the front door in to the perfect cosy front room. A fabulous welcome basket was there for us with sweet and savoury treats and there were blankets, bowls and biscuits for our dog Ernie. The cottage is quiet, five minutes walk to the incredible beach and has great internet and TV. Perfect for our new year’s long weekend away from London. We loved it.”

November 2018

“Peace and quiet. Perfect location, generous special touches with chocolate, eggs, biscuits, milk and bread (and a few more things too!)
The beds were top hotel quality. And pefect to sink into after a day walking around the coast. Loved every second of it.”

“We had a lovely few days at Mid Thatch. The cottage is ideal for 2 people plus a dog. It is located close to the beach and we saw seals every morning on our dog walk. Great welcome pack on arrival and very clean”

“A much needed break, all be it a short one. Have enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage and its the first time in 4 years that we’ve had a few days to ourselves! Our 2 furry friends were nice and cosy, both enjoyed the beaches at Sea Palling, Cart Gap and Happisburgh .Everyone has been friendly, despite being the summer holidays and busy! Thank you so much and hope to return to Mid-Thatch!!”

August 2017

“We enjoyed staying in the cottage, the bed was very comfortable and the enclosed garden was good for the dogs. Thank you for the excellent broadband. We had lovely walks with the dogs and they thoroughly enjoyed the beach. For many years we stayed at the Sea Breeze campsite and are familiar with the area. We have taken the dogs to the Reef many times. We would recommend the butchers in Stalham, they do lovely hot meat baguettes. We love visiting Happisburgh – the lighthouse is open on Sundays! The Small Sticks cafe provides very good food. Also Poppyland is an amazing find!! WW2 memorial, music and a patient passionate owner. Great food, we could have stayed there all day!! the weather has been fine, warm but also a bit windy. Thank you so much and we will definitely return soon!”

“Lovely little cottage, comfy beds, and beautiful welcome pack for humans and dogs. Loved exploring the beach and local walks with our dog, everywhere we walked everyone was very friendly! Really enjoyed the cafe in Sea Palling, really recommend the thick shakes after a long walk. We had a very wet day on Wednesdsay so went to Norwich – recommend the park and ride in Sprowston. Lovely city to do some shopping! We had a lovely relaxing holiday so thank you!”

“Beautiful cottage with everything we needed and more! The three great danes felt right at home within an hour. We have had a great time exploring the fabulous beaches and coastal paths, as well as experiencing some of the local pubs and hospitality there. The weather has been lovely and the front garden is a great place to trap the sun! Will definitely be back very soon (a week is not long enough!!) Thank you!”

“We have enjoyed a really wonderful week here at MidThatch. We could not fault the cottage; it was great and we found it fantastic to be able to walk to the beach through the field without having to go on the road much at all! Cottage was clean, showers were great and the bedding was fantastic. Thank you.”

 July 2017

“One of the best cottages we have stopped in, and we have stopped in many all the way to Saint Ives! Everything was perfect and thought out for guests. The welcome package for humans and dog was a lovely touch. Julie (me) has enjoyed cooking local seafood – love it! The walks to the beach in Sea Palling from the cottage so very relaxing.

We loved the beach and cafe at Winterton, local pubs very dog friendly. Cannot praise the cottage too highly, hope to come back sometime next year or maybe a little later to enjoy the grab and lobster festival in Cromer.”

 May 2017

“Cottage is very cosy, heats up quickly although we haven’t really needed it as we had lovely sunny weather. Beds are super comfy! Great base to visit neighbouring villages and of course a short walk either at the front or the back to the lovely blue flag beach. We spent a lovely afternoon hiring a boat on the broads at Sutton Staithe boat yard – lovely guys and very reasonable – only a 10 minute drive away. Love Sea Palling!”

April 2017

“What a wonderful find, truly welcoming. Perfect walk to a beautiful beach. The cottage had everything we needed; the welcome pack was a lovely touch and the dog treats were appreciated. The weather was dry and very sunny which was good for the break. We felt the cottage was truly ‘dog friendly’ and all the little ‘doggie’ touches (throws, bowls, toys etc.) made us all feel very much at home. Will recommend to any dog owners. We will definitely come again.”

December 2016

“We have had a beautiful and peaceful weekend at the cottage. We really appreciated being so well catered for and the cosy, warm and dog friendly environment! Being such a short walk to the beach was an added bonus! Make the most of it while you’re here. Thanks again.”

“We have had a lovely week at MidThatch escaping the lead up to Christmas. Lack of mobile phone reception was perfect. Indy our English Pointer didn’t want to leave and had to be carried out to the car. She’s got the hang of morning beach runs and meeting lots of doggie friends in the dunes. Thank you.”

“First visit to MidThatch but definitely not the last. We walked to Happisburgh, took 5 1/2 hours, not because it’s a long way – we met so many friendly chatty people the beach who all love dogs. We can highly recommend the Broadlands fish & chips takeaway and the Hong Kong Thai takeaway. Lots of seals at Horsey and Winterton beach is wonderful.

Being able to walk from the cottage to the beach – even when its a bit muddy is great – no need for the car. We came equipt with flashing dog collar so were able to stay on the beach until 17.50 – helped by the moon. A lovely warm, cozy cottage. Many thanks.”

November 2016

“Have had a lovely but busy week! Lots of lovely beaches for our border collie Rosie to run on. Great weather and a cosy cottage!”

August 2016

“Absolutely fabulous! We are in love with MidThatch and Norfolk!”

“We have had a fabulous week in a beautiful cottage. So much was provided for Charlie (bowls, treats, toys etc) I feel I could have just brought him and his lead. We have enjoyed the beach, bar and chippy here at Sea Palling, as well as visiting Wells-Next-The-Sea, Cromer, Horsey (beautiful beach and pub) and Great Yarmouth.

Bure Valley Railway and cruise on the river at Wroxham were realy dog friendly and made for a lovely day out! Enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen and a cheeky takeaway from the Indian Cinnamon too. A wonderful relaxing time had by all three of us.”

“We had a lovely time. The cottage was a perfect blend of traditional and modern features – lovely and cosy. Our daughter did not want to come home. The Oasis Indian restaurant in Stalham was very good. Thank you!!”

June 2016

“Lovely cottage and no sign of previous doggy visitors. Congratulations! Had an ideal week here, we loved the secure garden and the beach! Grandson said it ‘was the best holiday ever’ Would definitely come back.”

“What a lovely, welcoming cottage at MidThatch. The underfloor heating was a joy to come home to as the weather was a little unseasonably cold. As a result of the weather, we managed a full packed itinerary with lots to see and do.

A particular highlight for me was to come across a seal on Horsey beach who was exhausted after battling the strong waves in the sea. Percie loved Winterton-On-Sea, beautiful unspoilt beaches and again the wind has its advantages as she loved chasing the surf and the foam bubbles as they blew across Sea Palling beach. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time in your little cottage.”

May 2016

“After 4 hours travelling from London, we arrived, looking for somewhere that would take away the stresses and strains of everyday life!! We found that here at MidThatch. If it rained, we stayed in, enjoying a warm house where we could really feel comfortable and relaxed. With the fire gently crackling, it felt like our home, our place. That is remarkable. We hope to visit again soon, when it is warm enough to swim.”

“We’ve had a lovely week in your gorgeous cottage – very relaxing with penty of walks from the door, in fact the dogs probably need a rest now! Emma (next door) and her sister, were extremely helpful. We were very luck with the weather , so also made full use of sitting in the garden with a drink. Would recommend Reefs Bar for a good value Sunday lunch and as always, the Nelsons Head at Horsey for good food and drinks.”

Windswept dunes, ever changing seas and miles of sandy beach…clear skies, stars at night, peace and quiet in a cosy, quirky cottage.
